Change is inevitable when you have a brain injury. Those who are injured are probably dealing with new symptoms all the time: pain in ways they haven’t dealt with before their injury, and new emotions or personality changes that are draining or even jarring or confusing. Imagine feeling like you’ve changed so much “overnight” that you don’t even know yourself.
TBI is an invisible injury with many complicated symptoms and changes.. so if you meet someone or are a caregiver to those who have had a concussion, stroke, or any kind of brain injury – try to be patient and kind. And remind them that just like the changes that a caterpillar must go through to become a butterfly… Change can be beautiful! Be strong and know that you are not alone.
