Sometimes, we have to make hard choices. If you know your brain is tired, it's always better to rest. Short term, it sounds okay to push yourself through that headache - but long term, if you continually make choices that push your brain, it will hinder your healing process. Your brain is injured, you have to allow it the rest it needs. And sometimes that means saying "no" right now to things you really want to do, for the sake of long term improvement.
Your brain health is more important. You only get one brain! By saying "no" to pushing yourself now, it will allow you to say "YES" in the future, as your brain begins to heal! :) But you have to allow it the time and rest it needs to heal, and unfortunately sometimes that means saying "no".
This may look like:
"No" to going to the grocery store / a crowded store when you're overtired. "No" to going to that social event; even when you desperately want to go, but know that you can't handle groups of people. "No" to doing work around the house if you're way too exhausted.
Saying NO to that overwhelming activity is saying YES to your brain healing! #hopeafterheadinjury
