Living with brain injury is so HARD. Some days, I don't even have the energy to get out of bed. I don't want to keep pushing, I don't want to keep trying. Every little thing takes so much effort - it didn't used to be like this! I don't want to face anyone or anything because it's just so...hard. It can start to feel pointless to even try.
It's okay to have days like this. It's okay to have days where you feel you can't do anything...like you can't handle anything...and just rest. Days where you hide from the world.
But you can't hide forever. Sometimes when I begin to grow weary of trying, I allow myself to sink into negativity and then I'm stuck in a rut and I can't get out. Living with brain injury, you are going to have some days where you can't possibly be optimistic. And that's OKAY. But don't allow those days to take over your entire life.
After allowing yourself to feel those emotions, remind yourself that you are NOT ALONE in this struggle. Get yourself up, wipe your tears, and begin to take small steps towards healing. Begin to work with your brain injury by taking breaks and not forcing yourself to go too far when you really don't have the energy, but working towards healing. It could be simple as doing the dishes or the laundry. I firmly believe brain injury survivors are capable of doing anything and achieving our dreams, we just may have to approach it a little differently. Your brain injury does not define you. Keep moving foward!! I believe in you!!
