Daily life with brain injury can weigh you down so much. After so many hard days, weeks, months, or even years in a row, it is easy to lose sight of hope. After a long, emotionally exhausting, headache filled week, I feel drained, tired, and depressed... and it's so hard to get out of that "funk"! The longer I'm in it, the harder it is to get out!
That's why it is so important to find beauty and joy in the little things while the big things are weighing us down. I find that it's the little things that are able to remind me to smile and motivate me to keep going in my recovery process!
Maybe it's a joke or conversation with a loved one, or getting to pet your favorite animal, or watching your favorite movie, or listening to your favorite song, or simply going outside and feeling the warmth of the sun. For me, the thing that helps the most is prayer because it reminds me that there is so much more to life than what I'm experiencing right now. Living with brain injury is a process, and everyone's journey is different, but I truly believe and hope that every one of us affected by brain injury can find joy somewhere! <3
Make it a goal this week to look for and find joy somewhere each and every day. Keep fighting, but don't forget to smile! :)
