"I'm still working on getting used to my new normal." - Erin's Survivor Story

"In January 2016 I was involved in an accident. I was hit by a car walking in a crosswalk after work. I had no idea it was coming and don't remember it at all. From what a witness said I was a third of the way in the crosswalk and a lady turned left and cut the corner hit me and I went flying and it the ground. I suffered what they called a mild concussion and various other injuries. I had a horrible time with memory, went thru speech therapy along with massage, chiropractic physical therapy. I went back to work part time and struggled with my job. Ended up laid off last Sept 2016 due to accuracy, pain and unable to tolerate a full day of work. I've improved a bit, but still deal with headaches, anxiety and pain. It changed my life forever but I am very glad I am still here. Some days are super frustrating and I just want it to stop. But I am grateful for this support group to help me realize I am not alone. I'm still working on getting use to my new normal and hoping to get back to doing some of the things I use to do that I can't right now." -Erin, TBI Survivor ••• ➡️Share your story for#braininjuryawarenessmonth!
