"I've survived the worst, I can survive whatever else you deal me!" - Jeni's Survi

"I fell from my 2nd story window to the sidewalk below. I was Life Flighted to a Brain Trauma Hospital. I had 9 major broken bones, ruptured bladder, went into Cardiac Arrest 2x's and suffered a severe TBI. After surgery on my bladder I was put in ICU in a Coma, (Glasgow Scale 3) and was not given much hope of living through the night. So much bleeding in the brain but with such little hope, they didn't drain it. I was a "wait and see" case. 3 weeks later I took my first breath on my own and was off Life Support but still in semi-vegetative state. Diffused Axonal Injury & Coup Contracoup, sheering, bleeding and yet I Survived! That was 10 years ago on May 10, 2007. I lost 42 complete years of pre-TBI Memories. I have support to go places since I have Severe Anxiety Disorder & Ataxia. I am tired so much of the time (Neurofatigue). But I Survived & I am able to live independently, alone! So, I was dealt some not so fun cards in return for having a second chance at life. I'm game for that! Bring it on. I've survived the worst, I can survive whatever else you deal me!" -Jeni, TBI Survivor ••• ➡️Share your story for#braininjuryawarenessmonth!
