"It became hard to go to bed knowing I'd wake up in severe pain..." - Kayleigh's S
"4 years ago I sustained a concussion simply by hitting my head on a soccer goalpost. It seemed like such a small deal, however, when I look back on it, I realize that all of my sudden symptoms were totally symptoms of a concussion. It’s such a shame that no one around me (including myself) knew what a concussion looks like. That’s why I desire to spread awareness and knowledge so others can be educated. From that day, I’ve had a never ending headache.
The first 2 years post-concussion, I actually had more hope than I do now. I’d go to bed every night praying and getting excited that I would be healed the next morning, however, that was far from reality. It became hard to go to bed knowing that I’d wake up in severe pain the next day, and again and again. Eventually, and it took a long time, I began to not stress as much and have faith, hope and trust in God.
Especially finding the Hope After Head Injury support group, my hope grew tremendously. It was, and still is, such an amazing feeling to have people that can understand everything I’m going through! Through trying countless treatments, I’ve learned so much more patience and perseverance! One of my favourite Bible verses is: 'Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances.'- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18"
